Support for Providers

Doctors, nurses, midwives and therapists are profoundly impacted by the work they do. They experience the connection and profound joy and satisfaction that can come with supporting people in some of their biggest transitions and scariest moments. They also support patients and clients through traumatic experiences, devastating outcomes, disappointment, and complex experiences. Doctors and midwives report some of the highest rates of burnout as well as moral distress of any profession. They often report experiencing both primary and secondary trauma. Midwives, doctors, nurses and therapists need support too. Processing vicarious and secondary trauma for professionals leads to a decrease in burnout and increase in attunement to clients and job satisfaction.

I co-facilitate - with my colleague Olivia Scobie - a relational therapy group once a month for birth workers. Please email natalie@gardenavenuetherapy.com or call me directly at 647 228 7866 for more information on how to attend.
